8.5.1.220 Carriers EDI Operators Releases

Maintaining Approved Carriers for Operators

You can now maintain a list of approved carriers of specified cargo types for each operator in Master Terminal.

If you have defined a list of approved carriers, the system prevents you from:

  • Creating a release request for an unapproved operator, carrier, and cargo type combination
  • Releasing cargo for an unapproved operator, carrier, and cargo type combination (by road or rail)

You can maintain the list manually via the Operators code table or automatically by loading the Carrier Access EDI file type.

Loading the approved carriers list

You can use the Carrier Access file as a user-defined EDI file or a JMT Internal XML EDI file to load a list of approved carriers for an operator.

For a user-defined file, the only data needed is a list of carriers, which can be the Carrier code table code or an EDI data translation.

Hook code can be configured to set the Operator and Cargo Type when the file is loaded or you can set them on the EDI Details sheet of the EDI Operations screen after the file is loaded.

When you load a Carrier Access file into Master Terminal, the list of approved carriers in the file overwrites any existing list of approved carriers for that operator.

Manually maintaining the approved carriers list

Use the Carrier By Cargo Type sheet on the Operator Advanced Settings screen to view and maintain the approved carrier and cargo type combinations for an operator.

Click the Advanced Settings button on the Operator code table to open the Operator Advanced Settings screen for the selected operator.

In the example in the previous diagram, only those carriers in the Selected list are allowed to carry the ISO Container type for the operator MSK; for example, the system will not release ISO Container cargo for MSK to carrier AAA.

An empty approved carrier list means there is no restriction for that cargo type for the operator; that is, the system allows you to release cargo for that operator to any carrier.

Releasing cargo for an operator with an approved list of carriers

An error is displayed if you try to create a release request or release cargo for an unapproved operator, carrier, and cargo type combination.

This enhancement is available in Master Terminal 8.5.1.220.
