8.5.1.180 chassis fleet maintenance generators reefers trailers

Attaching Generator Sets to Reefers and Trailers

You can now attach a generator set to ISO containers and trailers (or chassis) in your fleet master by using the Fleet Maintenance screen or via the Fleet user-defined EDI file.

Defining which generators are attached to which trailers or ISO containers in your fleet master helps to speed up data entry as well as ensure that the correct items are associated with each other. When you process a trailer or ISO container at the gate, the generator details are automatically completed from the fleet master and the appropriate transactions are created.

When you receive a trailer or an ISO container that has a generator attached in the fleet master, the generator details are automatically recorded in the vehicle visit record and the appropriate transactions are created; for example, if you receive trailer MATRA1 at the gate, the system automatically records and gates in generator MAGENU1 in the vehicle visit record because the two are linked in the fleet master.

When you release a trailer or an ISO container that has a generator attached in the fleet master, the appropriate transactions are recorded for the tracked item and the attached generator.

If you cancel a vehicle visit, the attached generator is sent offsite as well as the trailer or ISO container.

Fleet Maintenance

Use the Fleet Maintenance screen to attach a generator set to a trailer or ISO container in your fleet master. Define a generator set first and then attach it to the a trailer or ISO container.

ISO containers will only accept Nose-Mounted generator types. A generator can be attached to one ISO container only. The Generator combo box is displayed only if you select a reefer container type.

Trailers will only accept Under-Slung generator types. A generator can be attached to one trailer only.

The Generator Maintenance screen lets you view which trailer and ISO container fleet masters have generators attached.

System Configuration Options

The System Configuration screen has the following options.

  • Auto Link Reefer, Trailer and Generator Master Links
To automatically link the generator in the fleet master with the ISO container or trailer fleet master when attaching a generator to a cargo item or trailer in the yard, check this check box. For example, if you attach an ISO container and a generator in your yard (and each item has a fleet master record), the items are automatically linked in the fleet master.
  • Show Reefer/Generator Operator Mis-match as Warning
To display a warning (instead of an error) if the operator of a generator does not match the operator of the ISO container or trailer to which it is attached, check the Show Reefer/Generator Operator Mis-match as Warning check box. If you do not check this check box, an error is displayed.

Attach Detach Generator Hand-Held

The Attach Detach Generator hand-held application enables you to attach a generator to or detach a generator from a trailer or ISO container. If you:

  • Attach a generator, an Attach Generator Set transaction is created for the trailer or ISO container and the generator.
  • Detach a generator, a Detach Generator Set transaction is created for the trailer or ISO container and the generator.

This enhancement is available in Master Terminal 8.5.1.180.
